What is copyediting?

Unlike developmental editing, copyediting focuses on your manuscript's grammar and layout to ensure consistency and accuracy in your punctuation, spelling, terminology, use of regional English, and chapter titles. Our copyeditors will help maintain your voice and style throughout your manuscript and review your sentences for fluency and structure.

 

Why do I need a copyeditor?

Sentence structure and grammar are important factors in professionally presenting your manuscript. Books with incorrect grammar and poor sentence structure distract the reader from your plot; this may cause the reader to lose interest. To draw in your readers by strengthening your sentences and enhancing your voice, have a copyeditor take a look at your manuscript.​

What should I expect from Write Plan?

​

We will correct grammar, punctuation, and any incorrect usage of regional English and terminology. Write Plan will also check the manuscript's layout and chapter titles for consistency, review your manuscript for any style and voice inconsistencies, and strengthen your sentence structure to create a more engaging voice and to ensure smooth sentence flow.​

Free Sample Edit

​

We offer 5-pg sample edits for free. Pages should be formatted as Times New Roman font, 12-pt, and double-spaced with 1" margins. ​In addition to the free sample, a quote will be provided for your overall project​.

 

Full Copyedit ($0.02/word) *dependent on word count and work involved

For a full copyedit of your manuscript, turnaround is 4 weeks unless stated otherwise. (See the price chart here.)

 

Payments:

Payment Plans

​

Unlike many editing companies, we prefer creating custom payment plans for authors to make our services more accessible. Our payment plans are flexible to fit your needs. If you are interested in a payment plan, please let us know that when you fill out a contact form. We do require that 40% of the project's total amount is paid before we begin edits. 

​

Please note that for projects with payment plans, turnaround is 2–3 months.

​

If you wish to pay the full amount upfront to secure a 4-week turnaround instead, you are welcome to do so. 

​

Reserve an Editing Date in Advance

​

To reserve an editing date ahead of time, we require a $100 non-refundable deposit to secure a spot in our schedule. The $100 will be deducted from the project's final total.

How to Pay

Write Plan will send an electronic invoice, which can be paid via credit card or secure bank payment.
